Although the first hammams originated in Arabia, and bath culture was a central part of Roman life, Turkey popularized the tradition by making hammams available to people of all statuses.

The hammam ritual is quite simple, it doesn’t have complicated steps. The main purpose is relaxing rather than cleaning.

Here are the steps ;
  1. Relax and Prepare

When you enter the hammam building, there are areas for changing dress and a common place to have a drink before or after the bath.

  1. Adjust to the Warmth

Before you go to the bathing area, the tellak (staff member) will bring you to a transition area, the intermediate room, where you receive your towels and adjust to the heat.

  1. Full Body Scrub and Soaking

From there you enter the main area or hot room, which houses the large marble belly or navel stone. Visitorslay down on the hot marbles or wash near the fountains

  1. Rinse and Massage If you want to feel more relaxing, you may ask for massage and the tellak gives you the best message ever with large bubbles of foam. That’s the best part of hammams

In Turkish baths we prefer peshtemals to towels.Because it dries faster and it is lighter than towels.and  Of course silk bath gloves and natural handmade soaps a must have Turkish baths product list
